The Morocco national football team is set to lose its star Nasir Mazraoui to retirement after the World Cup. Mazraoui said in statements published by As newspaper that he may retire from football in the near future. He added that life is short and he wants to memorize the Quran and become an imam in a mosque one day. Mazraoui began his football career with Ajax academy before moving to Bayern Munich in 2022. He holds a contract with Manchester United until 2028. Mazraoui surprised everyone with his statements after the second match of the Atlas Lions in the 2026 World Cup. Morocco started its World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Brazil before winning 1-0 against Scotland. Mazraoui intends to leave football sooner than expected. He graduated from Ajax academy and made his debut with the Dutch team in 2018. Mazraoui has been defending Manchester United's colors since 2024.
