Morocco's football federation president Fouzi Lekjaa announced that the country won't bid for any African tournaments after the national team's draw with Brazil in the 2026 World Cup. Lekjaa said: "Morocco will not submit any new bids for African tournaments". The Moroccan national team drew with their Brazilian counterparts in the first round of the 2026 World Cup group stage. This draw came after the controversy surrounding the 2025 African Nations Cup, which was hosted by Morocco, and the events that followed the final match sparked a lot of discussion within the African football community. Lekjaa said: "If any country wants to bid for any tournament, we wish them all the best and success".
